Excited news: Chiefs announce the addition of top Quarterback

The Chiefs make another move at quarterback on roster cutdown day.
The Chiefs will go ahead with only two quarterbacks on the active roster after releasing Chris Oladokun, who is a priority practice squad inclusion if he clears waivers.

Oladokun is entering his third season with Kansas City, if he remains on the practice squad, and played an important part impersonating Lamar Jackson in preparation for last year’s AFC Championship triumph.

With Patrick Mahomes and Carson Wentz locked in at quarterback and a multitude of needs at other positions, the Chiefs are sticking to their traditional plan of wearing only two signal callers on game day.

Chiefs News: KC releases quarterback Chris Oladokun
He had a competent but unspectacular preseason, completing 66.7% of his throws for 250 yards (7.6 yards per attempt), one touchdown, and two interceptions. Oladokun has slowly improved in his two years with the club, but he remains clearly the lesser backup to stars like Wentz.

That is not to say he is not significant. In the unfortunate case that both Mahomes and Wentz were injured, Oladokun would be trusted to dress in an emergency. If another club claims him off waivers, Brett Veach and Andy Reid will need to immediately find an emergency alternative in free agency or trade.

Oladokun will most likely clear waivers and rejoin the Chiefs shortly. The 2022 seventh-round selection from Pittsburgh has proved competent of fulfill his job, and Kansas City does not want to go quarterback-hunting while focusing on Baltimore.

Oladokun also has an advantage because his first game is against the Ravens. He’s already copied Jackson once, so it’s logical to expect the coaching staff to urge him to do it again.

Expect this to be a small setback, as Oladokun will soon return to the practice squad.
