Sad news: Rangers talented star rule out of the season

Jacob Trouba to miss 2-3 weeks with Rangers injury concerns The Rangers lost a key piece just as they were adding a key piece before the trade deadline.

Captain Jacob Trouba will be sidelined for two to three weeks with a lower-body injury, Rangers president and general manager Chris Drury announced on a conference call with reporters Friday night.
“We’re very confident that once Jacob’s lower body heals, he’ll be able to rest and come back and be ready to go,” Drury said.
“We definitely welcome him back.
” Drury said the current plan is not to put Trouba on injured reserve, but that is “always an option in the future.

Jacob Trouba will be out for two to three weeks starting Friday with a lower-body injury.
Trouba has missed the past two practices and was initially classified as a regular player by head coach Peter Laviolette.
It’s unclear how or when Trouba was injured, but this will be the first time this season that the 30-year-old defenseman will be sidelined with an injury.
Rangers acquire fullback Chad Ruhwedel from the Penguins in exchange for a 2027 fourth-round pick to compete with Zach Jones for the seventh defenseman role while Trouba is out.
It is expected that “After looking at different situations and talking to 31 other GMs for four to six weeks leading up to Friday, we thought Chad was a great option,” Drury said when asked why.

Considering Trouba’s news, he placed less emphasis on defense.
“We don’t have a lot of right-handed defenders in our system.
Hartford had Mac Hollowell, but we just wanted to add Chad and his experience and leadership were a perfect fit for us.
