The Philadelphia Eagles are hoping to duplicate their Super Bowl victory from the previous season as they start the 2025 NFL season. The Eagles still seem to have a squad capable of competing with the other top teams in the league, despite losing a few key players during the offseason.
Under the leadership of head coach Nick Sirianni, Philadelphia will start the season as a favorite.
The Eagles did lose some important players this offseason, as was already acknowledged. But they also brought in some excellent players. Before the regular season starts, are they still looking to make a few more moves?
One NFL writer recently made that suggestion.
Before the 2025 season, the Philadelphia Eagles are expected to make an intriguing trade.
In order to further strengthen its attack, Cory Woodroof, a writer for The Win, has forecast that Philadelphia will sign veteran wide receiver Kendrick Bourne from the New England Patriots.
Woodroof noted, “It feels like there will be an odd man out with potential starters, and the Patriots have one of the most crowded receiver rooms in the NFL.”
As a seasoned wide receiver who can support any quarterback, Bourne is still valuable, and rather than firing him completely, New England might be interested in seeing what it could acquire in the future. The Eagles could provide quarterback Jalen Hurts with a great depth option in the passing game and Bourne with a clearer route to the field. Bourne may be a very wise addition to Philadelphia’s receiving depth.
How would the trade proceed? In exchange for Bourne, Woodroof proposed that the Eagles give the Patriots a 2026 seventh-round pick.
Philadelphia would be well advised to seek that trade if it were available. Despite a lackluster 2024 season with New England, Bourne is a talented veteran wide receiver who would provide the Eagles with great depth.
In 12 games played during the Patriots’ miserable 2024 season, Bourne caught 28 catches for 305 yards and a score. The team as a whole suffered, even though those numbers aren’t spectacular.
It would be obvious for Philadelphia to give up a seventh-round pick for a playmaker who could be used by Jalen Hurts. Although it’s only a suggestion, the Eagles would benefit from it.
