NBA salary cap for 2025-26 season set at $154.647 million

NEW YORK – The National Basketball Association has officially set the Salary Cap for the 2025-26 season at $154.647 million, effective at 12:01 a.m. ET on Tuesday, July 1.

In addition to the Salary Cap, the Tax Level has been established at $187.895 million for the upcoming season.

Starting at 6:00 p.m. ET today, NBA teams are allowed to begin negotiations with free agents — six hours before the league’s moratorium period begins. This moratorium ends at 12:00 p.m. ET on Sunday, July 6, after which teams can finalize and officially sign contracts.

Additional key financial figures for the 2025-26 NBA season include:

  • Minimum Team Salary: $139.182 million
  • First Apron Level: $195.945 million
  • Second Apron Level: $207.824 million

Under the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), teams also have access to three Mid-Level Exceptions (MLEs) based on their salary situation:

  • Non-Taxpayer Mid-Level Exception: $14.104 million
  • Taxpayer Mid-Level Exception: $5.685 million
  • Room Mid-Level Exception (for teams under the cap): $8.781 million

These figures play a significant role in guiding teams’ free agency and roster decisions during the offseason, particularly as franchises look to manage spending while remaining competitive.
